‘The increasingly essential Shoreditch Town Hall... filling the gap in non-traditional performance spaces in London.’ Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

Since 2012, Shoreditch Town Hall has established itself as a vibrant, non-traditional arts space, with a focus on ambitious, inspiring theatre and performance and the development and nurturing of talented artists – especially emerging theatre and performance innovators.

We have created opportunities for over 25,000 diverse audiences and participants, establishing an artistic programme from scratch with our ‘pilot’ season in October 2012 including Paines Plough’s Roundabout Season, with the National Theatre and Sheffield Theatres, 66 Minutes in Damascus with LIFT, and The Serpent’s Tooth with the Almeida Theatre. We’ve built on that since by working with 233 artists and companies; presenting 103 productions, 9 commissions and 22 premieres. Highlights have included dreamthinkspeak’s ABSENT (commissioned by Shoreditch Town Hall, LIFT and LeftCoast), Kneehigh's Dead Dog in a Suitcase (with Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse), Nigel Barrett and Louise Mari’s Basement Grotto, Chris Goode & Company’s Longwave, Greg Wohead’s The Ted Bundy Project, Philip Pullman’s Grimm Tales, Analogue’s Re:Enactments, curious directive’s Pioneer and Gandini Juggling’s CLØWNS & QUEENS as part of the Roundhouse’s CircusFest.

In 2014/15 alone we committed 3,000 hours of rehearsal and creation space, invested just under £150,000 in artistic activity, and directly supported or worked in a programming and producing capacity with 73 theatre and performance companies.
