Workshops and Learning
Mayor's Parlour
Ever look at someone on stage doing a solo piece and thought, ‘I want to do that’? Award-winning theatre-maker Apphia Campbell is here to walk you through the steps of making your own work.
Discussing how she made her solo piece Black Is The Color Of My Voice, in this practical workshop you will get tips on how to find and structure your stories in order to perform them on stage.
Bring a notebook, pen, and smartphone with music that inspires, motivates, or just gives you some kind of emotional response. Please wear loose clothing and be comfortable to work in groups or with a partner.
£10 off for Black Is The Color Of My Voice
(RE)Connect: Make Your Own Solo Work workshop bookers get £10 off tickets to Black Is The Color Of My Voice. Just add tickets to both events to your basket and the discount will be applied automatically. Book here >>
Scholarships
We have 5 paid for scholarship spaces available for this workshop for young people living in Hackney. If you would like to apply please email info@shoreditchtownhall.com with your name, age, the workshop you would like to attend, and two things you are hoping you will learn from attending the workshop.
Supported by Hackney Council’s Discover Young Hackney programme
We will be taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of everyone in the building. Whilst at the Town Hall you must abide by all Covid-19 Safety Measures in place, which you can find here.
All workshop participants will need to produce evidence of a negative lateral flow test on the day of the workshop, taken within 24 hours. You can find out more information here.
In the event of a tighter lockdown in October, we have made contingency plans to move the (RE)Connect workshops online. Before booking a place, participants should ensure that they would have stable internet access and a space in which to work, should that eventuality arise, as refunds cannot be given resulting from a change in the teaching delivery method.
