Following a 2-year research project by Northumbria University’s Dr Rachel Hann focussing on transness and nonbinariness in performance, the Producing Trans Performance Symposium 2024 brings together leading artists, producers, and academics to discuss the opportunities and challenges for producing trans-led creative work in the UK today.

This free symposium is a chance to reflect on the work achieved to date in the development of ‘trans performance’ and to plot future directions in practice, policy, and programming cultures – and it’s presented in-person and online, so you can join wherever you are in the world.

Presented across two days, the artists and companies featured include: Emma Frankland, Travis Alabanza, Krishna Istha, Charlie Josephine, Tabby Lamb, CN Lester, Ocean Chillingworth, An0maly, Midgitte Bardot, Subira Joy, Prince of Persia, The Hale, piss/CARNATION, Milk Presents, Curious Arts, and many more.

Joining us on Saturday? Stick around in the evening for Extraordinary Acts!: A Trans Cabaret - hosted by the award-winning theatre maker Emma Frankland. The cabaret includes acts ranging from drag, song, and poetry to chaos, rage and the unexpected. It's an all trans, all fire - Shoreditch takeover!

This event is free, but registration is essential. Registration will close at midday on 9 October 2024.

BSL interpretation is available for the Cabaret only (due to staffing changes). Please note, the Cabaret will not be livestreamed.
