Get ready to move and feel the music within you in this exciting series of digital workshops led by world renowned performer Dickson Mbi and his Fiya House crew. From contemporary dance to Popping, you’ll learn how to find the beats and express the rhythms you hear through your body.
Welcoming all levels of experience, all you need to bring is your passion for dance and music. Clear some space to move, plug your speakers in and see where the rhythm takes you.
The workshops will take place over 5 sessions across two weeks. Each workshop will have a different theme, and will be led by Dickson and members of dance collective Fiya House.
Workshop Themes:
Day 1 – Wednesday 14th April – Contemporary Dance Basics
Day 2 –Thursday 15th April – Popping 101 Basics
Day 3 – Wednesday 21st April – Bringing together Movement & Musicality: How dancers express and listen to music
Day 4 – Thursday 22nd April - Putting your Creativity to Work
Day 5 – Wednesday 28th April – Present to the Group
These workshops will be taking place on Zoom with Dickson and members from Fiya House. Once you have booked, we will send you the link to access the right before it's about to begin.

Dickson Mbi is an award-winning choreographer, known worldwide his remarkable popping skills, strong personality, powerful movement and positive attitude. He has won many major Popping competitions including: Juste Debout UK, BattleISM and KOD and worked with award-winning artists such as Russell Maliphant and Boy Blue Entertainment. Sadlers Wells Theatre commissioned a documentary about his artistic journey on BBC4 titled Street to Stage (2018).
Fiya House is a world-renowned collective of dance artists based in London, and has been a positive and consistent presence in the UK Popping Community since 2012. Founded by Dickson Mbi and Brooke Milliner, the collective aims to provide a platform for dancers to showcase their talent, network with other like-minded artists, and promote growth for the UK Hip Hop scene. To inspire the next generation of dancers, Fiya House not only delivers not-for-profit weekly training sessions in London, but also invites international pioneers to teach workshops and judge events throughout the year.
