SXSW London has officially kicked off and from tomorrow you can join us for inspiring talks, networking events and legendary music across our spaces. June is truly jam-packed with an interactive gaming evening with Mod, classical music concerts and the final Tea Dance, History Tour and Theatre Re sessions before the summer, not to mention a load of artist workshops and opportunities for creatives to get stuck into. SXSW London 2026

2 – 6 June

SXSW London is back at Shoreditch Town Hall this week after a standout debut in 2025, bringing music, talks and networking events to the heart of Shoreditch. This year’s fierce musical line-up includes: Rachel Chinouriri, Earl Sweatshirt, Tiwa Savage, Cure for Paranoia, Infinity Song and more. With performances spanning hip hop, alternative R&B, queer culture, electronic experimentation, contemporary classical and future-facing global sounds taking over our Assembly Hall and The Ditch, there truly is something for everyone. Interactive game designers Mod are turning up the competitive spirit in The Ditch this month with a free evening of playful activism, table top games and connection. THAMES

Celebration Concert 2026

22 & 23 June

Taking place in our Assembly Hall, THAMES (The Tower Hamlets Arts & Music Education Service), will be hosting their annual Celebration Concert featuring a range of groups from their programme. THAMES works with schools and cultural organisations to provide music and arts opportunities for young people who live or go to school in Tower Hamlets, and instrumental groups such as their Children’s Choir, the Tower Hamlets Youth Orchestra and the THAMES Awards Orchestra will be performing with us.

In a world ever more shaped by uncertainty and unrest, the need for space to reflect on peace feels urgent. For the opening concert of the 50th anniversary of Spitalfields Music Festival, the company reflect on the moment in which we find ourselves, and explore how music and poetry can help us make sense of the world around us as five classical music artists take to our Assembly Hall stage to bring their own perspectives and contemplate what peace looks like. Join dazzling Mr Wonderful and the talented Former World Champion Raymond Root as they host the final Tea Dance before summer. Come along and dance the afternoon away to uplifting tunes, enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake and relive your favourite tea dance memories. Haven’t joined Tea Dance this year yet? Don’t worry! History Tour

Couldn’t make our May History Tour, part of Hackney History Festival? Due to popular demand we’ve just announced another tour for the end of June. Explore our building behind-the-scenes and learn about how it has changed over the years, from opening in 1866, to being a boxing venue in the 60s, hosting Whirl-Y gigs in the 90’s, to the cultural venue it is today – and see your favourite film and TV locations in the flesh. Speak Up Project

Shoreditch Town Hall favourites Ministry of Stories is back with their Speak Up Project. Working with Year 9 students from the Bridge Academy in Hackney, Ministry of Stories delve into the practise of speech writing and spoken word in workshops before the students deliver their speeches to a small invited audience in our building. Creative Lab workshops

Kakilang‘s popular artist development programme is back for the third time – with an exciting array of multidisciplinary workshops, expert artist-facilitators, and the opportunity to develop your ideas. Led by industry professionals, these workshops are designed to reflect the possibilities of working across art forms, and are open to anyone from diverse backgrounds. Following the workshops, the programme cultivates in a ‘Creation Week’ in The Ditch where participants can test and devise any emerging ideas inspired by the workshops. Find out more here.

Rooted in Theatre Re’s artistic practice and creative process, join their final monthly workshop before the summer, focusing on Corporeal Mime technique, rigorous training, improvisation and composition inspired by their current projects. After the line-up announcement of our epic artist summer takeover, Summer in The Ditch is returning for its third iteration in just a matter of weeks and our fabulous acts are getting ready to turn up the heat. If you’re in the building you may bump into some of them rehearsing in various spaces across June, like Lachlan Werner and returning performers Fabio Lezonli, Riss Obolensky, JEAN and Georgia Tasda will be causing chaos. Associate Company ThisEgg are back in the building to rehearse their new show Un/fortunately. ThisEgg is a devising theatre company, and their show is to be about money, about what our relationship with money says about us. Change, Act!

Artist Workshop

11 June

Change, Act! is an applied theatre company for deaf and disabled individuals, and they co-create accessible theatre to drive social change. They will be using our space to support a local artist to develop their career through doing a playtest of a workshop the artist has devised. The workshop incorporates art and somatic expression for people who need to manage their pain due to long term health conditions. Find out more about Change, Act! here.

Hackney Tour Guides Training Course

10, 14 June

The accredited Hackney Guides course returns to Shoreditch Town Hall training the future of Hackney tour guides in the rich history of our borough through sessions with course leader and local historian Sue Doe. Diving into the many wonderful stories about people and architecture around Hackney which people may or may not know about. We’re excited to provide free space for these training sessions as a part of our Local Lounge initiative. 

Bromley U3A Private History Tour

18 June

Bromley U3A is an organisation for educational and leisure activities for mature people, both retired and in part time employment living in the London Borough of Bromley. They provide mental, physical and social activities for members to engage with, helping people to stay connected and make the most of life. This month, members from the group will be heading over for a private tour of our building as they have a particular interest in viewing places on the Windrush Line. This tour will be led by our Cultural Programming Manager – Susannah Bramwell.

Hackney Thinking Spaces

18 & 25 June

A project funded by City and Hackney Public Health, Hackney Thinking Spaces (HTS) provides safe, reflective spaces for participants to explore the emotional and mental health impacts of racism and discrimination. It was developed in 2023 in response to the harmful impact of systemic racism on Black and Global Majority Children, young people, and families in Hackney, and the need for collective learning and action. They are using our space to deliver a session in partnership with Hackney Council and I Found Me Therapeutic Counselling.
