International Women’s Day 2024
WOW – Women of the World: One Night Live in London
8 March
Led by WOW’s Founder Jude Kelly, the evening will feature best-selling author Elif Shafak, writer Liv Little, writer and performer Jordan Stephens and more telling urgent stories from around the world. Join us to celebrate the achievements of women, girls and non-binary people, take a frank look at the obstacles they face and discuss solutions for change. As part of the evening we’ll open a cabinet of curiosities as Jude interviews Annabelle Hirsch, the author of A History of Women in 101 Objects. Azadi Network: On Our Own Terms
9 March
Join women and community leaders, artists and activists for an enlightening and important debate defining and defying Gender Apartheid in Iran and Afghanistan. Baroness Kennedy KC will be joined on stage by Jude Kelly CBE, Madeleine Rees, Negin Shiraghaei and Horia Mosadiq to discuss the findings of the Inquiry, alongside a panel of experts from both nations. Theatre Re: Monthly Training Class

Occurring monthly since September 2021 in partnership with Shoreditch Town Hall, Theatre Re‘s Sunday professional classes aim to support professional, semi-professional, recent graduates and performers-in-training in their regular practice with monthly day-long training sessions with a community of like-minded creatives – Led by Theatre Re Director Guillaume Pigé and other members of the company. Chamber Orchestra Workshop for Primary Schools

Many children from disadvantaged backgrounds do not have the opportunity to access art and culture or to experience the joy of live music, and especially live classical music. Apollo Music Projects helps to address this by taking children on an inspirational journey, gradually introducing them to the instruments of the orchestra, the musicians who play them and the music they play. Children develop their confidence, understanding and enjoyment of classical music, before experiencing a spectacular symphony orchestra concert here at Shoreditch Town Hall. Marawa’s Majorettes

Marawa’s Majorettes make everyone fall in love with hooping! They’ve become a leading fitness team and international performance troupe, teaching the world to hoop as they go. Town Hall Tea Dance

The Shoreditch Town Hall classic is here to keep you cosy this winter with a cuppa, cake and a chance to relive those Tea Dance memories in our magnificent Assembly Hall. New dancers, group parties and all ages are welcome, and a Beginners’ Dance Class led by former world champion, Raymond Root takes place before every dance. Ballet Queer Residency
25 – 28 March
Ballet Queer will begin its artistic residency this month with a research and development process that will explore the Queer History of Ballet. The company will be working with dance artists to explore their own lived experiences within the art form and in relation to their Queer identities. Our Made in Shoreditch: Artist Workspace initiative continues this month as we support artist development and the creation of new live performance. You can book a desk space for a day or week at a time, benefiting from a dedicated and safe communal working environment, interaction with other artists, and advice sessions with Town Hall staff.
