We have a new premiere from ThisEgg, free workshops, talks and Open House tours, all alongside the return of Town Hall favourites Theatre Re, Tea Dance and Koro, plus lots more. Just Announced: Our Autumn Season

Our Autumn season begins this Sunday as we bring a host of epic events featuring boundary-pushing theatre, inspiring workshops, free events and our favourite cabaret acts taking over our building. We’re hosting LUNG Theatre‘s stunning dance-theatre piece Woodhill again after a sold-out run in 2024 (currently in Edinburgh), our Associate Company ThisEgg’s new show ‘unfortunately‘ kicks off from the 22 September, and it’s the return of: Theatre Re, Mod Games, Fun Palaces, Open House Festival and our ever iconic Town Hall Tea Dance alongside a massive 16 act cabaret evening celebrating 160 years of our building.

We don’t talk about money. Let’s try to.
Our multi-award-winning Associate Company ThisEgg returns to the Assembly Hall with a brand new performance, unfortunately, after the success of their previous shows dressed. (2019) and A Little Inquest Into What We Are All Doing Here (2025) on our stage. Through costume, movement and text, unfortunately is part fashion show, part theatre show which explores our relationship to money. What it tells us about ourselves, and about each other. Many of the world’s most climate vulnerable states are spending five times more on debt than dealing with the climate emergency. This is not an accident. For centuries, powerful governments, institutions and corporations have used debt to control and plunder the resources of countries in the global South for their own gain. From colonial powers forcing countries into debt at the point of independence, to allowing big corporations to continue to make huge profits from debt repayments, we can’t fight today’s debt crisis without understanding its roots. Led by campaiging organisation Debt Justice, this interactive workshop will explain the history of colonial debt, and how you can get involved in the fight against it. Find out more.

Council tax debt has soared in recent years and now 4.4 million people are in debt. But instead of supporting families to get out of debt, councils are using violence, harassment and intimidation – sending in bailiffs. Worse, the cost of a visit is added to their debt. Councils should stop using bailiffs to collect council tax debt. It’s completely unjust to use a form of legalized harassment to try and collect debts. No matter what people’s financial circumstances are, everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. This creative hands-on workshop explores connection, memory and belonging through tracing, dry-point etching and digital transformation with artist Donald Shek as he shows how personal objects can hold memories of stepping beyond the familiar and encourages you to encounter new people, places and communities. Open House Festival 2026

We are thrilled to once again be part of Open House – the world’s largest architecture festival for the 8th year in a row! This two-week celebration of London’s homes, architecture and neighbourhoods, allows you to get inside some of London’s best known buildings – all for free. Come along on our Guided Tour to explore spaces that are usually closed to the public. Learn about the architecture and design of our building, and how its use has developed over the years from a municipal building that opened in 1866 to the leading arts venue it is today. Town Hall Tea Dance

29 September

Dance the afternoon away in the magnificent surrounding of our grand Assembly Hall this Autumn as Town Hall Tea Dance returns. Grab a cup of tea and a slice of cake, and relive those tea dance memories with entertainment led by the aptly-named Mr Wonderful. Haven’t danced in a while? Join former world champion, Raymond Root for his Beginners’ Dance Class taking place just before to brush up your moves. New dancers, group parties and all ages are welcome. Please note: this month’s Tea Dance will be taking place on a Tuesday (instead of the regular Monday). Book your space now.

Marawa’s Majorettes rehearsal

Marawa’s Majorettes make everyone fall in love with hooping! They’ve become a leading fitness team and international performance troupe, teaching the world to hoop as they go. They will be back in our building rehearsing some upcoming work. If you see them make sure to say hi!

Paulina Lenoir & Patricia Langa: A DYING PROFESSION Preview

29  September

Following an arttistic residency with us, Paulina Lenoir and Patricia Langa present a preview of their new show. Conchita & Lola, two professional mourners who have dedicated their lives to grieving for humanity. But as the weight of their calling begins to grow heavier, they are confronted by a haunting question: who, in turn, will mourn them? As artists of mixed heritage, Patricia (Spanish) and Paulina (Swiss-Mexican) draw on their research into the multicultural roots of flamenco and the rich folklore traditions embedded within their diverse cultural backgrounds. Through this, they explore their relationship to death, displacement, and the blending of traditions, in order to create a new space for shared and communal grieving. Koro Productions R&D

21 – 25 & 28 – 30 September

Koro is back again with their Artist Development Programme. In May they were in our building hosting workshops as a part of the programme, and now they are in their final Research & Development phase with individual artists before the public sharing of the work later this month. This month, they are supporting artist Margot Przymierska to develop their immersive theatre work.

R&D for The Labubu Effect

28 – 30 September

The Labubu Effect is a performance project exploring how a collectible toy, Labubu, became a symbol of global hype, scarcity, and algorithm-driven obsession. Blending theatre, pop culture, storytelling, and interview this residency marks the first stage of R&D for a full-length performance interrogating virality and consumption. During the residency Paula hopes to curate a studio-based boutique-installation from repurposed props and set materials to anchor the project in lived experience, devise performance text based on research and personal story, and host an open studio at end of week, with potential collaborators/partners/peers.
