From masked seekers to immersive Halloween parties, The Ditch has seen some things. We caught up with our Head of Events Claire to find out what makes The Ditch such a unique setting for Halloween, and hear about some of the most memorable events we’ve hosted.

Hi Claire, tell us about the types of events we usually host at Shoreditch Town Hall

As we have eight hireable spaces at Shoreditch Town Hall, we have such a variety of events here. These can include conferences, gala dinners and award ceremonies to wedding ceremonies, brand activations, filming for music videos, TV and film as well as full building takeovers such as SXSW London and Design London Shoreditch.

What has been your favourite event hire since working at Shoreditch Town Hall? 

There are too many to choose from! We’ve hosted The Rolling Stones at the Jazz FM Awards and Green Day at the Kerrang! Awards. There’s Cartier’s jewellery launch, Baby Reindeer‘s filming and Chopova Lowena’s fashion show in The Ditch.

My favourite event has to be working with KIN Events on the Christmas Social and winning the GOLD award for Best Venue Transformation this year. Each year gets bigger, bolder and better and the KIN team are amazing to work with. It is genuinely a party you and your colleagues actually want to go to. Autumn is around the corner, can you tell us about some Halloween themed events that we’ve held in the past?

There was a Halloween party where spooky characters took guests on a journey exploring The Ditch, another Halloween party included a dance procession through the Council Chamber and up to their own private club in our Assembly Hall with DJs, food and cocktails – it was truly unforgettable. Unit 9 also hosted a product launch called Fright Night where they transformed The Ditch for guests to explore tricks and treats hidden throughout the spaces. Then there’s Kraken Rum‘s horror hide & seek, an immersive experience where guests were hunted by masked seekers. Survivors were rewarded with access to the cocktail bar and a custom built video game to continue the fun of the game.

What facilities, services, systems, products and ideas are possible for Halloween event hires and why is The Ditch the perfect space for it? 

The Ditch is the perfect space for Halloween hires, with its warren of unique and distressed spaces, spooky atmosphere and own private entrance. You can take guests on a full immersive journey where they can get lost in the labyrinth and surprised round each corner. The Ditch has full production capabilities to bring any event brief to life. 

What makes Shoreditch Town Hall a unique space for hire and why should people book their events or weddings with us?  

There is nowhere quite like Shoreditch Town Hall. Our historic building is full of character from grand Victorian halls like our Counil Chamber, Mayor’s Parlour and Assembly Hall, to intimate hidden spaces like The Ditch. The range of spaces offer incredible versatility and gives every event its own distinctive backdrop. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or creative production, every space has its own personality, allowing couples and clients to create something truly bespoke in one of London’s most iconic cultural landmarks.
