Shoreditch Town Hall is excited to announce the appointment of Verity Ellis to our board of trustees.

Verity is lawyer with a focus on the art, media, and technology sectors, representing a diverse portfolio of UK and international clients. She advises on a broad spectrum of contentious intellectual property matters, offering strategic commercial guidance to both emerging and established brands in pre-litigation and post-litigation contexts. Verity’s practice centres on brand protection and enforcement, with specialist expertise in trademark and copyright disputes. Verity also regularly handles defamation claims and has significant experience in technology-related disputes, particularly those involving contractual breaches and termination issues. We spoke to Verity to hear more about her career and what drew her to Shoreditch Town Hall’s board.

Tell us a little about you

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of law and creativity, working in arts, media, and tech law. I love helping ideas thrive while making sure my client’s innovation and intellectual property stays protected. Applying law to ever-developing technologies keeps my work busy and interesting!

Why did you want to join Shoreditch Town Hall’s board, and what have you enjoyed so far?

I’m delighted to join the Board at Shoreditch Town Hall as a Trustee. It is such a diverse, busy and accessible space which I am excited to support. So far, I’ve loved seeing how collaborative and imaginative the team is, it’s energising.

How does your background influence your desire to be involved with a cultural venue like Shoreditch Town Hall?

The arts and law often feel like separate worlds, but it’s important that a strong legal backbone can support success. My background working with clients in the arts and cultural sector helps me understand the challenges and opportunities open to Shoreditch Town Hall.

What values of Shoreditch Town Hall connect with you the most?

The commitment to being a platform for diverse work (particularly for up-and-coming artists) in an accessible venue is something that is very exciting for me.

What are you most looking forward to that’s coming up in our building?

Part of the joy of Shoreditch Town Hall is the range of events taking place, it’s hard to pick just one! I’m looking forward to bringing my daughter along to some family friendly performances like Apollo’s Cabinet‘s Re:Invention in March 2026, part of the London Handel Festival.
