We are thrilled to share that Shoreditch Town Hall has been awarded nearly £900,000 in vital funding to safeguard our home as a landmark for East London culture.

This investment is part of the government’s Arts Everywhere Fund, a major £1.5 billion package designed to support cultural infrastructure across the country. In London alone, over £30 million is being distributed today to twenty-four venues, museums, and libraries to ensure that these cherished spaces remain at the heart of their communities.

Shoreditch Town Hall CEO, Julie Flavell, said: “Shoreditch Town Hall is delighted to receive almost £900,000 from the Creative Foundations Fund. As an independent arts venue housed in a Grade II listed building, this crucial capital investment will enable us to protect and enhance the spaces where artists and audiences come together, whilst also strengthening the workspaces and hireable rooms that support our long‑term financial sustainability.

It will underpin essential repairs to the Tower, improve accessibility, and embed sustainable practices, ensuring the building remains an inspiring, welcoming home for creativity and community for generations to come. Our Trustees and staff team are proud to lead this next chapter in the life of this vital cultural space in East London.”

This funding comes at a critical time for us. Notably, Shoreditch Town Hall is an independent cultural venue, distinguishing us from many larger National Portfolio Organisations receiving support, and this grant represents a vital investment in our self-sustaining creative ecosystem. The £899,847 grant from the Creative Foundations Fund will be used to address urgent repair to our building. We are also planning to restore key spaces, including the Assembly Hall and Old Servery, while delivering essential upgrades to our accessibility, security, and sustainable systems. These works are not just about bricks and mortar; they protect our ability to generate the £1M in annual income that keeps the Town Hall running as an inclusive centre for artistic production and community use.

We are proud to be part of a wider investment in the creative spirit of East London – other venues receiving support include our neighbours Autograph Gallery and Rich Mix.
