HighRise Theatre are launching their new associate company for young artists aged 16-27 years, New Gens.
HighRise Theatre have built a strong reputation as makers of innovative and exceptional theatre. Recent credits include Lil.Miss.Lady (a grime theatre rave starring Lady Lykez) and The UK Drill Project, an immersive theatre show exploring drill music and culture in the UK.
New Gens will offer free training, performance opportunities, support to explore future pathways in the arts (music and theatre specifically) and create industry connections.
The first phase of New Gens will run at Shoreditch Town Hall every Thursday from January 2020 culminating in an industry showcase in April 2020.
Young people that have worked with HighRise theatre previously have:
• gained employment within theatre, music and the creative industries
• performed in professional theatre productions at high profile venues including The Roundhouse in Camden
• worked with established theatre/music producers and recording artists
We are holding two informal audition/taster sessions for New Gens at Shoreditch Town Hall on Thursday 16 January, 6pm-9pm and Thursday 23 January, 6pm-9pm.
These sessions are strictly by invitation only. There is nothing to prepare and no experience required. This is a FREE opportunity.
If accepted onto the New Gens programme, young people will work with HighRise Theatre to form a new young associate arts collective, working every Thursday 6pm-9pm through to the industry showcase in April 2020. We expect this to be a highly competitive programme so please do contact us as soon as possible to find out more. Young people can self refer or we do accept referrals via organisations.
