Dance | Fashion | Identity

As part of East London Dance’s celebration of east London’s eclectic dance and fashion cultures at Shoreditch Town Hall, London College of Fashion, UAL are co-curating a special panel discussion about dance, fashion and Identity on Saturday 14 April.

Chaired by Brett Booth of Urban Nerds, this panel discussion will explore the work of choreographers, fashion designers and photographers; the use of their art in expressing identity and how dance and fashion come together to challenge identity stereotypes and conventions.

Panelists include;

Ivan Blackstock, choreographer and Artistic Director of new street culture festival CRXSS PLATFXRM. Previous Co-founder and Artistic Director of BirdGang Dance Company, Blackstock has created work for the likes of The Young Vic, NOWNESS and Dizzee Rascal

Nina Manandhar, photographer and curator exploring projects in contemporary global youth identity and the meaning of style. Photography credits include FT weekender, Fader and Vogue and she is the author of ‘What We Wore A People’s History of British Style”.

Sabrina Henry, a costume designer, stylist and curator working in dance, moving image and performance. Starting out as a fashion stylist and editor working on editorials for Stylist UK, Nataal and as contributing editor to Vogue Italia online she went on to work as fashion curator at Southbank Centre programming multi-disciplinary events that explored fashion as identity and performance
