Did you know we are a charity? Since its opening in 1866, Shoreditch Town Hall has witnessed everything from Victorian reform and Sylvia Pankhurst’s activism, to vibrant boxing matches, and the electrifying Whirl-Y-Gigs in the 90s. Each era has left its mark on this iconic building to make it the creative venue it is today, and now it’s our turn to care for its future. Click here to find out more and donate
Join us on International Women’s Day for an energising Bollywood Dance Workshop.
Perfect for complete beginners, this fun-filled session is your chance to learn new moves and get a dynamic introduction to Bollywood dancing. Bring your friends, sister, nan or anyone who wants to join in the fun – no experience needed!
Bollywood dance is a celebration of both the Hindi film industry in India, and the wider South Asian culture. This workshop will be filled with expression and storytelling. Expect to learn movement, gestures and character development as you dance to some of the best-known songs from popular Bollywood films, and feel like you are part of your very own musical.
While we’re celebrating women with this workshop, everyone is welcome to join.
The workshop will be led by our very own Head of Operations, Devashree Pande. Devashree started her professional career as a dance artist, teacher and choreographer in 2006 with the SHIAMAK Group, the largest Bollywood dance entertainment and education academy in the world. For 14 years, she taught classes across India, UK and USA. She also performed with the dance company across the world, taught Bollywood stars such as Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, and performed in films such as Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Her favourite dance forms include Bollywood, Semi-Classical and Indo-Contemporary.
