Written and performed by designer turned clown & theatre-maker Paulina Lenoir, and dance artist and choreographer Patricia Langa, A DYING PROFESSION is a new clown, dance, and theatre piece exploring humanity's relationship to death.

The show follows Conchita & Lola, two professional mourners who have dedicated their lives to grieving for humanity. But as the weight of their calling begins to grow heavier, they are confronted by a haunting question: who, in turn, will mourn them? 

As artists of mixed heritage, Patricia (Spanish) and Paulina (Swiss-Mexican) draw on their research into the multicultural roots of flamenco and the rich folklore traditions embedded within their diverse cultural backgrounds. Through this, they explore their relationship to death, displacement, and the blending of traditions, in order to create a new space for shared and communal grieving. 

Fusing clowning, dance and physical theatre A DYING PROFESSION offers a genre-defying performance about embracing death as a means to fully embrace life.
