The Ditch

Shoreditch Live is a brand new free live festival for young people age 13 - 19, taking place in our basement space, The Ditch, and spilling outdoors onto Rivington Place.

The afternoon will include a live music stage curated by Hackney Music Network’s Youth Music Forum, live urban graffiti, interactive visual and comic arts workshops led by Snooze Fabric, and delicious food provided by Shoreditch Trust’s Waterhouse Restaurant.

This event is part of Discover Young Hackney 2019.

I love to dream, I love to draw. It's been that way since about age four. Spray, pens or pencils in my hand, I communicate, and the world understands, this keeps me fresh and leaves me free, to respect and remix what my eyes might see, to make some happy, and pay some bills, and someone may even say "this dude got skills"..

Dan Malone

I have been involved in the UK games industry for over 30 years and have been writing stories, designing characters and drawing comics for most of my life. After leaving Art College in 1984, I continued work designing, writing and illustrating role playing games - Dungeons & Dragons etc - as well as pursuing a career in comics. Past clients include Commodore, Atari, Sega, Nokia, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft, amongst others. I have spent part of my career living, travelling and working abroad, being influenced, in particular, by extended periods of time in Japan and India. I currently work in Hackney Town, in a studio overlooking the City of London.

Wayne Snooze

I am an illustrator initially self taught until recently graduating from the RCA with a MA in Visual Communication. Inspired by vintage British comic art, lifestyle art and annuals, I have worked on a diverse range of projects, record sleeves, magazine illustration, clothing, and of course comics, recently as the main illustrator for Snooze Fabric. My work can be seen adorning the streets by way of Wheat-paste posters and stickers.

Tara McInerney

I am a multidisciplinary artist with research interests in queer art, fandom and comics. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2016, I have been working as a Senior Lecturer on the Comics and Graphic Novels BA at Teesside University, I am constantly looking to promote comics within higher education, as well as explore illustration as a tool for transformative self-identification. I live in Newcastle and read plenty of manga.
