Shoreditch Town Hall is a Fun Palace!

We're taking part in the annual Fun Palaces weekend for the third year in a row.  

Join us for a family-friendly day of creativity and chat with activities like board games and colouring in, alongside workshops, taster sessions and stalls! Come along to chill out with some free refreshments (tea, coffee, snacks) and be part of what happens in our building 

Confirmed activities include: Shoreditch Town Hall History Tours, colouring and board games in our Council Chamber, a Tea Party with Compassionate Neighbours, workshops with Change, Act!, costuming with House of Trius, and stalls with It Takes a Village and Shoreditch Trust.

Our building will be open from 11am - 4pm for building-wide activities - all for free (booking encouraged). You can turn up at any time (last entry is 3.45pm).

LINE-UP OF ACTIVITIES

The Elephant's Tea Party by Compassionate Neighbours, all day

Drop-in for tea and a chat about death & dying, and how we can strengthen our community to address loneliness and isolation. Featuring Community Connection Bingo, and Memory Trees.

Costuming with House of Trius, various times

11am - 1pm: Kiki and Costume
Working with rhinestones, appliqués and feathers to enhance
costume pieces or start something new. Each participant will be gifted a small set of resources to work with.

1.30pm - 2.30pm: Show and Tell
Creatives will be given the opportunity to show off their
costumes and props, and share a little bit about their creative
process.

2.30pm - 3.30pm: Prop Swap
An opportunity for people to swap used or unwanted props and
costume pieces.

Shoreditch Town Hall History Tour, 12pm

Join one of our guided tours and explore spaces that are usually closed to the public. Learn about our building's history, featuring stories of suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst, women’s rights advocate Helen Taylor, Shoreditch's first woman mayor Henrietta Girling OBE and more. You never know, you may even bump into a ghost or two.

Object-ification Workshop by Change, Act! Theatre, 1pm (ages 16+) & 3pm (all ages)

A creative drama workshop exploring everyday objects and how they relate to you, us and the world. Create improv scenes and make fun and inspiring narratives. 

Tickets to this workshop need to be booked in advance - to book, please first add tickets to Shoreditch Town Hall is a Fun Palace! to your basket, then you'll be prompted to add your ticket to the workshop at checkout. Times subject to change.

Board Games and Colouring, all day

Pull up a chair and get stuck into a classic, or discover a new favourite, perfect for friendly competition or, relax with colouring sheets.

Shoreditch Trust Stall, all day

Meet Shoreditch Trust and find out how you can help shape our local community, participate in events and meals, volunteer, access wellbeing and mental health support, join local crafts groups, get help to stop smoking and much, much more. 

Fun Palaces is a national campaign for community-led culture – encouraging local people to share what they know and love through arts, science, tech, craft, heritage, sports and more. It’s about skill-sharing, hands-on activities, and bringing people together.
