Since its opening in 1866, Shoreditch Town Hall has witnessed everything from Victorian reform and Sylvia Pankhurst’s activism, to vibrant boxing matches, and the electrifying Whirl-Y-Gigs in the 90s. Welcome aboard The Trainwreck Express - destination: unknown. In the highly probable event this train is hijacked by AI, you will be treated to emergency dance breaks, surprise exits and unsolicited karaoke from your fellow passengers. Exits may open where walls once stood. Please keep your limbs, secrets, and existential crises inside the Train(wreck) at all times.
Trainwreck is a delirious, ever-mutating satire where you and your co-passengers attempt to steer towards your dream destination. Your choices fuel the engine while AI fiddles with the map, the throttle, and reality itself...
Taking inspiration from Glasgow’s infamous “immersive” Willy Wonka knockoff and overhyped global fiasco Fyre Festival, this is immersive madness at full steam ahead.

We'll be hosting an Open Mic on Saturday 11 July in our bar to celebrate the opening week of Summer in The Ditch 2026. If you want to try out some quick material, sing a ballad or show us your close up magic skills, then pop by with your tap shoes. MC'd by our very own Helen Highwater. 8.30pm - 9pm, booking isn't required, just turn up.

Following the success of our annual artist takeover, Summer in The Ditch returns for a third year to showcase a dynamic mix of camp, queer, and cult work in our basement space.
With experimental new work, and rough and ready sessions from artists, ventriloquists, singers and performers, anything can happen and the unexpected is always welcome.

TomYumSim (Tom Halls & Simone French), are an outrageous performance company originally from Down Under, that challenge conventional notions of theatre and rebel against the mainstream.
They embrace their wacky queer sensibility, neurodivergent brains and a DIY methodology, to make work that is interdisciplinary; combining digital technologies, music and video with live interactive performance.
Over the past decade, they’ve presented 12 works across the UK and Australia - Recent credits include: A Suffocating Choking Feeling (Green Room Award Winner, Camden People’s Theatre/Pleasance Theatre) exploring influencer culture and the ethics of faking an illness online & mixing live performance with live streaming, Hotline (Word of Warning/MIF) - a subversive live one-to-one phone performance that turned the mundane into magic, The Salon (Cambridge Junction/Bridgewater Hall) an immersive and interactive self-care hair experience, Be My Embrace Now (Manchester Pride), Rebels of Extinction (Manchester International Festival), String Lines (Royal Exchange Theatre), Rage Face (The Yard Theatre) & Nothing Special (Camden People’s Theatre)
