Did you know we are a charity? Since its opening in 1866, Shoreditch Town Hall has witnessed everything from Victorian reform and Sylvia Pankhurst’s activism, to vibrant boxing matches, and the electrifying Whirl-Y-Gigs in the 90s. Each era has left its mark on this iconic building to make it the creative venue it is today, and now it’s our turn to care for its future. Click here to find out more and donate
Join Theatre Re to mark 15 years and celebrate 10 years of their acclaimed show The Nature of Forgetting with this week-long intensive.
Meet fellow performers, makers, recent graduates and actors in training and immerse yourself into the devising methods behind the company’s internationally acclaimed work and unique method of storytelling.
Combining rigorous physical training with collaborative creation, the intensive offers a rare opportunity to explore how Theatre Re builds emotionally powerful narratives through movement, rhythm, live music and ensemble work - without relying on text.
Drawing directly from the company’s process, participants will train in Corporeal Mime technique and its repertoire, explore ensemble composition, develop physical storytelling, and engage with devising methodologies used in the making of Theatre Re’s productions.
Alongside training and devising, the week is an opportunity to connect with a community of performers and collaborators interested in ambitious, visually driven and emotionally resonant work.
This five-day workshop is led by Guillaume Pigé (Theatre Re Director and RADA Associate Teacher) along with core Theatre Re members.
No previous experience of Corporeal Mime is required to join, only your curiosity and playfulness.
“One of the UK's most admired physical theatre companies.” The Scotsman
“Theatre Re excels at transforming small, intimate stories into whirling, viscerally physical extravagance.” What’s On Stage
“UK based Theatre Re has a truly unique method of storytelling.” Luxembourg Times
Guillaume Pigé is the Artistic Director and founder of Theatre Re. He trained with
theatre makers and directors such as Andrew Visnevski, Steven Wasson, Corinne
Soum, Daniel Stein and Thomas Leabhart.
His practice looks at intimate, difficult to talk about and sometimes taboo life experiences, and turns them into moving, viscerally physical, visually striking poetic theatre to address global human challenges.
His work was performed in more than seventeen countries, notably at The Cerventino Festival (Mexico), Hong Kong Arts Festival, New Victory Theater (USA), National Taichung Theatre (Taiwan), National Centre for Performing Arts (China) and London International Mime Festival (UK). He has been an Associate Teacher at R.A.D.A since 2011 and is regularly invited to give workshops about Theatre Re's creative process and physical language throughout the UK and internationally.
