Did you know we are a charity? Since its opening in 1866, Shoreditch Town Hall has witnessed everything from Victorian reform and Sylvia Pankhurst’s activism, to vibrant boxing matches, and the electrifying Whirl-Y-Gigs in the 90s. Each era has left its mark on this iconic building to make it the creative venue it is today, and now it’s our turn to care for its future. Click here to find out more and donate
MimeLondon returns to Shoreditch Town Hall for 2025!
Inspired by J.S.Bach’s term Clavieruebung - piano exercise, Kosta Andrea Sekulic’s TheaterÜbung training programme uses specially devised exercises and improvisation to enhance physical awareness and spatial presence. It’s also a process of developing a structural observation of human behaviour, of simultaneous playing together, in life and on stage.
Participants are invited to tune in and open up. Using rhythm and musical parallels such as melody and harmony (horizontal and vertical dimension) they will learn how to play together, observe movements, and create space for their own stories to appear.
Suitable for everyone, especially actors, directors and theatre practitioners - as well as musicians. No previous or particular experience is required to join, only an openness and playfulness.
Having initially studied medicine, Kosta trained in theatre with Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He has taught at Swiss and British drama schools and given observational awareness and body language seminars with both health and corporate management professionals.
Over the last decade he has focused on exploring the parallels of theatre creation and classical piano music, searching for ways of enriching theatre practice.
