Did you know we are a charity? Since its opening in 1866, Shoreditch Town Hall has witnessed everything from Victorian reform and Sylvia Pankhurst’s activism, to vibrant boxing matches, and the electrifying Whirl-Y-Gigs in the 90s. Each era has left its mark on this iconic building to make it the creative venue it is today, and now it’s our turn to care for its future. Click here to find out more and donate

MimeLondon returns to Shoreditch Town Hall for 2025!

In post-show discussions, we are often asked, where do we start and what comes first - movement or music? In this one-week intensive we will take participants through the beginnings of Theatre Re's unique process of making visually striking theatre with original live music. We will share how the work starts and how it evolves. Throughout the week we will train and play as an ensemble and, we will devise work with music being composed live in the room.

Drawing on the Corporeal Mime vocabulary and technique, participants will learn how to uncover and play with physical details to enhance their performance skills, develop new material, and push the boundaries of what theatre, without a playwright, can do. They will also learn how to respond to a live musician discovering the balance of how to lean into and challenge the music.

Each day will begin with physical conditioning and will then progress towards training and technique, culminating in the opportunity to devise a short presentation true to the Theatre Re process.

Suitable for professional and semi-professional performers, actors and performers in training, young graduates, university theatre students, visual artists.

This workshop will be led by Guillaume Pigé (Theatre Re Artistic Director), Claudia Marciano (Theatre Re Performer and Teacher) and Henry Webster (Theatre Re Composer and Musician).
