The Ditch

Take a leap into the unknown and join us for this festival created by London’s next gen creatives.

Taking over The Ditch at Shoreditch Town Hall, LIFT’s young producers have created an all-day festival of creativity exploring the issues they care about most. Working in groups, the young people have been on a journey to learn how to become a producer by putting together their own event as part of LIFT’s 2022 programme.

A ticket to UpLIFTed gives you access to the various workshops and events taking place at Shoreditch Town Hall throughout the day, some of which have limited capacities. If there are specific events you wish to attend at particular times, email phil@liftfestival.com detailing these, and we will reserve you a space to guarantee entry. Otherwise, just come along with your ticket and enjoy the day as it unfolds!

There will be refreshments available in The Ditch throughout the day. There are lots of local restaurants and cafes where you can find food and you’re welcome to leave and come back if you need to.

遺 комнаты (Rooms Left Behind), 12pm-5pm

Working with a Ukrainian artist who has had to flee Russia, and Hong Kong artists who left their city, Amy Tong and Anna Ostrovskaia have created a theatrical installation exploring the idea of what it means to be a political migrant and how it feels to leave your home behind.

Step into the rooms to see, touch and smell objects, once packed for everyday life, and now abandoned forever. Immerse yourself into the story, through video projections and exhibition.

Presented by Amy Tong & Anna Ostrovskaia
Creatives: Gun Suen, Tanya Kargaeva, Mola mola, Sasha Dömina, Tatiana Knyazeva

Entry times for the installation are 12pm (fully booked), 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Each time slot has a capacity of 22 people. If there is a session you know would like to attend, please get in touch via booking@liftfestival.com so we can reserve you a space. Otherwise, just come along to enjoy the day as it unfolds!

Please note scent is used as part of the performance. The ingredients are: Alcohol, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benozate, Benzyl Cinnamate, Benzyl Salicylate, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Isoeugenol, Limonene, Linalool

About LIFT's Young Producers Programme

LIFT is passionate about supporting the next generation of creatives. To fill the final spot in the 2022 programme, LIFT has partnered with Shoreditch Town Hall to bring together a group of young Londoners to take a deep dive into the live event producing process. Over 16 weeks a group of 11 young people passionate about social change, inclusivity and making live events a more accessible and representative space, will learn everything they need to know about producing multidisciplinary performance. LIFT’s Young Producers Programme will see UpLIFTers - the festival’s six-year project in Tottenham - go London-wide, connecting young people across boroughs to learn and create together.

Supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, presented by LIFT and Shoreditch Town Hall.
