We are halfway through our Spring Season which has brought dance workshops, history tours, political theatre and Queer cabaret to the heart of Shoreditch. As we gear up for the opening night of DARKFIELD at The Ditch, we have loads of exciting events taking place in and around our Spring programme this April. From artist residencies, innovative workshops, networking opportunities, tea dances, concerts and the unveiling of our new ramp. DARKFIELD at The Ditch
1 – 12 April
Join us for a one-of-a-kind epic takeover of our untouched basement space, as critically acclaimed DARKFIELD bring four immersive experiences to The Ditch. A two-week takeover at the forefront of technology and theatre, it features binaural sound and unique storytelling to transport you into another world. Take on a choose-your-own path adventure in ARCADE, explore the Capgras delusion in DOUBLE or reflect on death and eternal life in VISITORS and ETERNAL. London Youth Choirs: Echoes of Britten
1 April
An unforgettable evening with 250 young talented voices, London Youth Junior Choirs bring to life Benjamin Britten’s iconic works in our grand Assembly Hall for a spectacular concert. Performed alongside striking modern reflections from today’s composers, The evening will take you on a musical journey blending the past and present. Explore more here.
Town Hall Tea Dance
8 March
Your favourite tea dance is back. The perfect way to start Spring, come along and dance to brilliant music by Mr Wonderful and meet with people from all over London and beyond. Don’t forget that there is a beginner’s dance class before the session with former world champion, Raymond Root with your ticket. Apollo Music Projects
Apollo Music Projects brings live classical music to children who might not otherwise experience it. They work with primary and special schools to transform children’s lives through music, promoting wellbeing, self-confidence and creativity. Involving interactive workshops in classrooms where children get to work with professional musicians and then attend a full chamber orchestra in concert, this time at our Assembly Hall. Improbable’s annual unconventional convention for everyone who is passionate about making change in Theatre and the Performing Arts is turning twenty in 2025, and we’re hosting! Clamber Collective
14 – 17 April
Clamber Collective is a new company pushing the boundaries of contemporary circus by integrating live music & acrobatics in innovative ways. During our stay at Shoreditch Town hall we will be researching and experimenting with new ways we can fuse these two art forms together including body persuasion with juggling, live looping with tumbling and floor acrobatics and playing instruments in human towers.
Ballet Queer
1 – 4 April
Ballet Queer continue their residency with us in preparation for their first live show, Some Queer History of Us which fuses together ballet, contemporary dance, spoken word and new music, to explore what ballet is and what it has the potential to be. Following on from their successful workshop in March, they will be developing on the themes explored in the sesion ready for a work-in-progress sharing towards the start of the month.

Coney: The Island
11 – 12 April
A playful experience and performance workshop built through creative exchange between young people in Tower Hamlets, London and in Port Villa in the pacific island nation, Vanuatu. With play, crafts and cups of tea partcipants are invited to add their own layer to the Island they’ve collectively imagined and been entrusted with. Theatre Re: Monthly Training Classes
27 April
Our town hall regulars Theatre Re return for their monthly Sunday training sessions for artists. Led by Theatre Re Director Guillaume Pigé and other members of the company, these sessions focus on the creative process behind their work including conditioning the body in preparation for: rigorous training, Corporeal Mime repertoire and technique, as well as improvisation and composition inspired by the company’s current projects. DARKFIELD Masterclass: Making Immersive and Audio Experiences
5 April
Innovative immersive theatre company, DARKFIELD host their second sold-out interactive masterclass for emerging artists, professionals , theatre makers and xr makers to learn more about their unique creative practice. Working on audio-based storytelling using binaural equipment, participants explore how to place the audience at the centre of an experience and ways to heighten immersion and interactivity.

Access for all
After a few months of building work and a vibrant graphic design hoarding outside the front of our building, our ramp is complete. Our new ramp replaces the existing, unreliable lift to make access into our building easier than ever. Why don’t you pop by our building and see it for yourself!
