As a women-led venue, we are thrilled to be working with so many amazing women across our team and to be supporting a range of women-led works in our Spring programme this year. To celebrate Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting this team of fantastic women. Next up is Kristína Munková, our current student placement from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Can you introduce yourself, and tell us a little about your role at Shoreditch Town Hall?
My name is Kristína Munková, and I’m an emerging producer and theatre-maker based in East London. I’m currently studying for my MA in Creative Producing at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. As part of my course, I’m currently doing a placement with Shoreditch Town Hall, where I’m working closely with the Cultural Programme team under the guidance of Ellie Browning and Susannah Bramwell. For the most part, I am doing a lot of learning and I have the great privilege to be sharing knowledge with such wonderful people at Shoreditch Town Hall.
Previously, I spent a year running the university theatre company at Queen Mary, University of London, where I produced several new-writing festivals and brought four original shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the society. I also co-wrote and co-produced a show called The Gallery, which explores how relationships form and break under time pressure, which was shown at The Bread&Roses Theatre in Clapham. My goal as a producer is to facilitate and create new work that is led by communities and reflecting the fast-paced society we live in.
Describe a project or event you’ve worked on that means a lot to you.
I have only started my placement at Shoreditch Town Hall recently, but I already worked on so many interesting projects! One of the most exciting and important ones was programme for the International Women’s Day. We prepared an exciting line up of in-house program and invited many local artists and organisations to come celebrate this special day with us. Honouring the lives and stories of women in Shoreditch and worldwide is essential, and I’m thrilled we’re creating space for this at Shoreditch Town Hall, during the Women’s History Month and throughout the year!
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me in theatre or cinema. I am also a big fan of visiting museums and galleries. But beyond that, I love all things natural and am always on the lookout for my next outdoor adventure. I find hiking in the mountains back at home or in London’s parks and swimming particularly refreshing and energising. I am also a big winter sports enthusiast!
I am vegan and I love experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, always on the hunt for creative ways to make delicious meals. And I’m lucky to live in London, where there’s an ever-growing variety of vegan restaurants to explore.

What are you most looking forward to in our Spring Season?
I’m most looking forward to STAMP Connects this May. It’s an incredible opportunity for both artists and organisations to come together in an accessible and fun way. I’m excited about the networking opportunities with other creatives and learning more about the sector through the insightful panel discussions we are currently developing with our partners. I think it will be such a welcoming space for artists to connect with a wide variety of theatres and arts organisations, and start important conversations about our industry, which is so needed!
